Doug Palma, DVM, DACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine) Board Certified in Veterinary Internal Medicine, graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 as class valedictorian. He completed his rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center, followed by advanced training during his small animal internal medicine (SAIM) residency. In 2008, he was awarded his Diplomate credentials from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
In addition to his work at Guardian Veterinary Specialists, Dr. Palma works at the Animal Medical Center and is the residency program director through ACVIM for training residents in internal medicine. Passionate about teaching, he has been directly involved in the training and certification of approximately 20 internal medicine residents and more than 260 interns.
Dr. Palma has contributed to multiple scientific articles and authored multiple book chapters in internal medicine and interventional endoscopy. He has earned multiple awards for outstanding teaching within the hospital and contributes to ongoing clinical research. He has lectured at veterinary conferences throughout the US and Canada on various internal medicine topics. His clinical interests include veterinary respiratory disease, gastroenterology, and interventional endoscopy.
