Scout is a two-year-old Springer Spaniel boy that miraculously recovered from a Pyothorax, which is the presence of fluid in the chest.
This sweetheart dog was under the care of our stellar surgery team led by Dr. Jeffrey Runge. Dr. Jeffrey Runge is an internationally recognized board-certified surgeon and ACVS Founding Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He performed a thoracoscopic surgery on Scout. This is a minimally invasive surgical technique where a tiny camera is inserted through the chest along with surgical instruments.

“…he has been through very intense training through several different sessions with Geoff English at Woodland Kennel and has had hundreds of birds shot over him and has also performed in AKC Field Trials.”
“Can’t wait to get him back out in the field as soon as weather/time permits. In the meantime we are doing lots of drills to keep him fresh and in shape.”
