
Josephine McKnight
DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)
Following completion of veterinary school at Ontario Veterinary College, Dr. Josephine McKnight completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. After AMC, she then spent 3 years in general practice before returning to The Animal Medical Center to pursue a residency in medical oncology. She obtained board certification in 2000.
Dr. McKnight remained at AMC as a staff oncologist for several years following her residency. During her time at AMC in addition to treating veterinary oncology patients, she participated in the training of more than 200 interns, residents, and veterinary students. She also participated in many of the clinical trials involved in the development of the canine melanoma vaccine.
Dr. McKnight received the honor of being named AMC Veterinarian of the Year award in 2000. She has also worked at Cornell University Veterinary School as a visiting lecturer in oncology. Dr. McKnight has published many articles on varying veterinary oncology topics including canine soft tissue sarcoma, feline colonic adenocarcinoma, canine malignant melanoma, and canine mast cell tumors.
