Jason Berg, DVM, DACVIM (Internal Medicine, Neurology)
Dr. Jason Berg is the Founder and President of Guardian Veterinary Specialists. A highly respected board-certified veterinary internist and neurologist, Dr. Berg has devoted his career to practicing veterinary medicine with a difference. Through the years, hundreds of pet owners and their pets have benefitted from his compassionate and sensitive approach. He has a strong commitment to providing specialized medical and surgical services with professionalism and integrity. Throughout a noted career spanning more than 20 years, Dr. Berg has been dedicated to advancing the field of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Berg received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University. In 1996, he went on to complete his internship, followed by residency training in veterinary neurology and internal medicine in 2000 at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. He received board certification in neurology in 2000 and in internal medicine in 2002.
An experienced business founder and owner, Dr. Berg previously launched Animal MR, Animal Specialty Center, Bloodhound Laboratories. In 2017 he founded Guardian Veterinary Specialists, a 29,000 square-foot advanced emergency critical care and specialty hospital in Brewster, NY.
Dr. Berg has held multiple positions with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is President of the Westchester Rockland Veterinary Medical Association. A sought-after lecturer and instructor nationally and internationally, he’s a published author with articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the American Veterinary Medical Association and Veterinary Internal Medicine, and American Animal Hospital Association, among others.
He has received numerous awards for many years of dedicated work with the animal shelter and rescue communities and is currently on the Advisory Board for the Westchester SPCA.
Bernadette Vinci, MS
Bernadette Vinci is the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Guardian Veterinary Specialists. During her career as a management professional, Ms. Vinci has acquired a wealth of experience in the veterinary industry and knowledge of hospital administration and management specifically. Receiving her Bachelors of Arts degree in Business from Pace University in New York, Ms. Vinci went on to receive her Master of Science degree in Management from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. Following graduation, she joined AT&T as Global Account Manager where she supervised a staff of 22 and was responsible for implementing business solutions for Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies in the veterinary field.
As a business entrepreneur, Ms. Vinci then founded BRV and Associates, an insurance and financial services firm that provided benefit solutions to veterinary groups. Ms. Vinci was then invited to join Animal Specialty Center, a new emergency and specialty hospital opening in Yonkers, NY, where she played a central role in conception and development. Following its launch, as Hospital Administrator, she was responsible for overall daily operations, including oversight of more than 100 employees, budget planning and implementation, strategic planning, and client relations.
Ms. Vinci went on to join Newtown Veterinary Specialists in Newtown, CT, as Director of Operations. There, her position encompassed a wide variety of analytical, evaluative, advisory, and coordinating functions needed to direct the administrative, technical and medical services of the hospital.
She is an advocate to find a cure for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and is the New York State Representative for the National Caregiver Society. In addition, she was a founding board member of the Hudson Valley Pet Food Pantry and is active in the local non-profit performing arts community as well.
